Opportunities
1) MSD and Wayra UK are teaming up again to offer two start-ups the Velocity Health programme: up to £34K funds and a 10-month accelerator programme in central London. This year, the partners are seeking start-ups who can help how technology can be used to support disease and illness prevention, with a particular focus on start-ups utilising AI and Machine Learning.
Applications open on December 4th 2017 with the deadline for applications being January 4th 2018. Finals will be taking place on January 12th 2018. Interested entrepreneurs can apply here. The programme begins in February 2018.
2) A diabetes innovation challenge with a £200,000 cash prize fund. The Ascensia Diabetes Challenge are seeking submissions for innovative digital solutions which can change behaviour and improve the lives of people with type 2 diabetes. Click here to apply.
3) RYSE Asset Management LLP are looking to invest between £250,000 and £300,000 in attractive, high potential companies that span the following areas:
Telehealth and care – activity/fall monitoring, remote medication management, long-term condition monitoring and video consultation
mHealth – wearables or apps for medical or wellness and fitness
Health Analytics – genomics, precision medicine or data analytics such as imaging, health data, health status, population health, readmission rates, bed occupancy or procurement data
Digitised health systems – patient or provider held digital records or devices and diagnostics.
4) Product Forge in Edinburgh is running a hackathon on January 25th - 28th alongside the NHS ISD and Scottish Health Innovations Ltd. The Public Health Product Forge will unite the wider technology community, entrepreneurs and medical professionals to create digital innovations that tackle population health issues to ultimately improve the health of people and their communities. The event will cover a variety of themes including childhood obesity, addiction, and mental illness. Register here.
